Who we are

JLA Living (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. We work alongside Justin Lamb Associates.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, please contact us:

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handle personal information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Information we collect

We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, or that is needed to run this website. This may include:

  • Enquiry details: your name, email address, phone number (if given), organisation and the content of your message when you use our contact form or email us.
  • Business contact details: details of people we work with or are introduced to in the course of our business, such as clients, partners, investors and public-sector bodies.
  • Technical information: your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, which our hosting provider records automatically in server logs for security and to keep the site running.

We do not knowingly collect special category data (such as health information), and this website is not intended for children.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and keep a record of our correspondence;
  • provide our services and manage our working relationships;
  • keep this website secure and working properly;
  • meet our legal, regulatory and accounting obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

Our lawful basis

Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your information. We rely on:

  • Legitimate interests: to respond to enquiries, run our business and keep our website secure, where those interests are not outweighed by your rights;
  • Contract: where we need your information to provide services you have asked for, or to take steps before entering into a contract;
  • Legal obligation: where we must keep information to comply with the law;
  • Consent: where you have given it, for example to receive updates from us. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Who we share it with

We only share your information where necessary, with:

  • service providers who support our business, such as our website host, email and IT providers, who act on our instructions and must keep your information secure;
  • professional advisers, such as our accountants and lawyers;
  • regulators, law enforcement or other authorities where the law requires it.

Some of our service providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above. Enquiries that do not lead to further work are normally deleted within two years. Records relating to our services and business transactions are kept for up to six years after the relationship ends, to meet legal and accounting requirements.

How we protect it

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including secure (HTTPS) connections to this website, access controls and reputable service providers. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work hard to protect the information you give us.

Your rights

Under data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to restrict or stop using your information;
  • object to us using your information on the basis of legitimate interests;
  • ask us to transfer your information to another organisation;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email robin@jlaliving.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There is normally no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
